To fulfill the hospital’s mission, the three main theme subjects covered by the strategic plan are growth and development, quality mental healthcare, and operational excellence. The strategies outlined in this strategic plan have been categorized into major focused programs that have budgets, responsibilities, performance indicators, and desired outputs clearly stated. The implementation of a comprehensive monitoring, evaluation, learning, and reporting system is required to ensure the effective implementation of the strategic plan.
To establish the Mathari National Teaching and Referral Hospital as a specialized mental hospital at the apex of mental healthcare in Kenya, this strategic plan has defined and integrated resource flows spanning the planning period, including plant and equipment, human resource, and training needs. The implementation of the plan will fortify the hospital service portfolio, reinforce the mechanisms for governance, and raise brand awareness as the region’s leading hub for mental healthcare and management.
The goal of the plan will not be achieved without the collaboration and partnerships that this strategic plan provides with the Ministry of Health, development partners, and other pertinent parties. The management of the hospital is dedicated to seeing that all interested parties actively participate in the plan’s implementation and to offering ongoing support and direction to help the hospital fulfill its mission
